Genesis GV60 Magma Launch Imminent, Priced $10,000 Above Ioniq 5 N

High-performance electric SUV on same platform: 641 hp + 84 kWh battery; initial rollout in U.S. East Coast and California

The luxury brand Genesis under Hyundai Motor Group is set to launch its new high-performance electric SUV — the 2027 Genesis GV60 Magma — in the U.S. market. As the first production model under Genesis's 'Magma' performance sub-brand, the GV60 Magma is expected to arrive at select U.S. dealerships over the coming weeks.

According to official disclosures, the GV60 Magma starts at $69,950 — $10,000 more than the platform-mate Hyundai IONIQ 5 N. Both models are built on Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP dedicated EV platform and share core powertrain and chassis architecture. Its dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivers a maximum combined output of 600 hp and peak torque of 546 lb-ft (≈739 N·m); in Boost mode, output briefly rises to 641 hp and 583 lb-ft (≈789 N·m).

Like the IONIQ 5 N, the GV60 Magma features a virtual gearshift system and an e-Active sound generator to enhance driver immersion. Its body adopts a wider, lower stance with aerodynamically optimized body kits for improved high-speed stability and cornering response.

Interior differences are even more pronounced: The GV60 Magma debuts Genesis's first proprietary performance bucket seats, upholstered in Obsidian Black ultra-suede with Magma Orange stitching; the steering wheel integrates dedicated Boost and Magma mode buttons; additional upgrades include custom alloy pedals, a bespoke instrument cluster interface, and a center-display information system tuned specifically for performance driving. Premium features come standard — including a Bang & Olufsen audio system and a 27-inch integrated OLED infotainment display.

Although the U.S. EPA range rating has not yet been officially released, industry estimates place its real-world range at approximately 221 miles (≈356 km), consistent with the identical 84 kWh battery pack used in the IONIQ 5 N.

Genesis plans to begin deliveries of the GV60 Magma through select authorized dealers in California, New York, and New Jersey. Notably, this launch follows Hyundai Motor Group's recent $6,300 price reduction for the 2026 IONIQ 5 N — underscoring a deliberate strategic shift toward premium positioning and performance differentiation.
