GEELY EX2 Launches in Australia at AU$26,490 Starting Price

China's Best-Selling Compact EV — the Xingyuan Overseas Version — Debuts in Australia, Offering 252 km Range and Targeting MG4 and BYD Seagull

China's annual best-selling compact battery-electric vehicle — the GEELY EX2 (sold domestically as the Geome Xingyuan) — has officially launched in the Australian market. On July 14, the vehicle went on sale in Australia via import, offered in two trims: Complete and Inspire, with a starting price of AU$26,490 (approximately US$18,360), making it one of the most affordable all-new BEVs available locally.

Public data shows the Geome Xingyuan delivered 465,775 units in China in 2025, securing the top spot for full-year sales; in the first half of 2026, it retained its segment leadership with 194,159 units sold. The EX2 launched in Australia represents the latest iteration of this model, marketed in some regions as the GEELY E2.

The entry-level EX2 Complete features a rear-mounted single motor producing 60 kW (80 hp), paired with a 35.35 kWh battery pack, delivering a WLTP range of 252 km and supporting 60 kW DC fast charging. It accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 14.2 seconds and is electronically limited to 130 km/h. Standard equipment includes 16-inch steel wheels, LED headlights, an active grille shutter, seven airbags, a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen (with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support). Interior trim is offered exclusively in Horizon Grey, featuring power-adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, and a four-speaker audio system.

The higher-spec Inspire variant upgrades to an 85 kW (114 hp) motor, cutting 0–100 km/h acceleration time to 11.5 seconds. It uses a 47.14 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, extending WLTP range to 345 km and enabling 80 kW DC fast charging. Additional features include 17-inch alloy wheels, an electric tailgate, rain-sensing wipers, a 360-degree surround-view camera system (with transparent chassis view), heated front seats and steering wheel, illuminated vanity mirror, 256-color ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, and a six-speaker audio system. Interior color options expand to Horizon Grey and Skyline White two-tone combinations, priced at AU$30,990 (approx. US$21,480).

Six exterior colors are available: Moon White (standard), Nebula Beige, Star Silver, Aurora Green, Nova Pink, and Comet Gray. All colors except Moon White carry an AU$600 (approx. US$416) option fee.

For its initial launch phase, GEELY offers a limited-time EX2 ownership package including a complimentary home AC wall charger, complimentary premium paint upgrade, and a 0.68% annualized financing rate. Key competitors include the AION UTBYD Atto 1 (i.e., the Seagull/Dolphin series), and the MG4 — all within the same compact BEV segment.
