Yangwang U8/U8L Receives Major OTA Update: Three-Step Font Size Adjustment and Toggleable Navigation Voice Guidance

Cockpit Interaction and Privacy Features Fully Optimized; 2026 U8L Adds Yunian Road Preview and Enhanced Low-Speed AEB

On July 21, Yangwang officially rolled out a new OTA update for the Yangwang U8 and Yangwang U8L models. This update is not a single unified version but is delivered selectively based on model year and trim level: the 2023 Luxury Edition and 2024 Off-Road Enthusiast Edition of the Yangwang U8 receive a dedicated version featuring 13 new functions; meanwhile, the Yangwang U8L's 2025 and 2026 Dingshi Editions get another upgrade package comprising 21 new features and 12 fine-tuning improvements.

This update focuses on enhancing intelligent cockpit interaction and user privacy management. The Yangwang U8 infotainment system now features a 'Dynamic Island'-style notification center in the top status bar — displaying real-time progress for calls, navigation, music, and other concurrent tasks. A new toggle enables users to keep voice navigation active even during phone calls, ensuring clear turn-by-turn guidance at complex intersections. Additionally, the dashcam gains automatic recording logic; system-wide font size now offers Standard, Large, and Extra-Large options; and a one-touch shortcut to disable exterior lights has been added to the central display — activated only when the vehicle is in Park (P) and seatbelts remain unbuckled.

The vehicle's functional capabilities are also expanded: automatic anti-glare side mirrors, seamless parking assist activation (automatically triggered upon approaching a parking spot), and an auto-power-down mechanism after extended unattended parking. The built-in iQiyi video app now integrates the 'Qiguan' AI recognition interface; and a new 'One-Tap Traceless Mode' privacy feature allows rapid deletion of local driving records — meeting users' demand for data autonomy.

The Yangwang U8L upgrade is more targeted. Both the 2025 and 2026 Dingshi Editions gain dynamic interaction, one-touch privacy sound shield, toggleable navigation voice guidance, and three-step global font scaling. Meanwhile, the 2026 Dingshi Edition receives additional enhancements to active safety and chassis technologies — including intelligent road condition recognition, further enhanced low-speed emergency braking (AEB), Yunian system road preview capability, and the same seamless parking assist activation logic.

Notably, certain optimizations are trim-specific: only the U8 Luxury Edition adjusts parking space detection algorithms and increases radar alert sensitivity. Across all trims, Bluetooth call connection stability has been uniformly improved; ambient lighting responsiveness to audio effects refined; external temperature query commands added to voice control; multi-scenario text prompts introduced; standby background processes streamlined; cabin acoustic performance optimized; and scene-mode triggering logic fine-tuned.

As the flagship model of BYD's premium brand Yangwang, the U8 series continues reinforcing its 'technology-defined luxury' positioning through iterative software updates. While this OTA does not modify powertrain or range specifications, its deep refinement of human–machine interaction, privacy security, and scenario-based intelligent driving assistance reflects how China's premium NEV SUVs are rapidly shifting competitive focus toward 'experience' in the intelligence-driven second half of the EV era.
