WETOX D2 Earns World's First Next-Gen V2X Certification, Adds V2L to Tesla/Yema Mustang Mach-E

Turn Existing EVs into Mobile Power Stations Without Replacing Your Car — Kickstarter Campaign Surpasses $120,000

The immense energy stored in electric vehicle batteries is expanding beyond propulsion — to power everyday life. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability has become a high-value feature for outdoor camping, emergency backup power, and on-site construction work. Yet reality remains: millions of already-sold mainstream EVs — including Tesla models and Ford Mustang Mach-E — lack factory-installed V2L functionality.

China-based WETOX has launched the D2 bidirectional power adapter, which leverages the vehicle's native charging port to add portable power delivery capability to EVs without built-in V2L. This is no simple plug-and-play adapter — it's a next-generation V2X solution built on a deeply customized protocol stack. Its core breakthrough lies in fully proprietary implementation of the ISO 15118 and DIN 70121 low-level communication protocols — eliminating reliance on third-party SECC modules — and enabling precise battery handshake control and continuous over-the-air (OTA) updates.

Safety is the top barrier for V2L adoption. The D2 features a custom-molded internal structure achieving IPX5 water resistance; its included 3-meter extension power strip reaches IPX6 rating, ensuring safe operation even in heavy rain. Addressing an industry-wide issue — certain V2L devices inadvertently trigger Tesla battery heating systems, causing up to 52% efficiency loss and 'phantom' energy drain — WETOX bypasses this mechanism entirely via its unique software protocol, delivering up to 40% higher real-world system efficiency versus competing products.

In the latest certification by authoritative third-party SGS, the WETOX D2 became the world's first V2X product to receive official ISO 15118-20 standard compliance reporting — signaling that its technical architecture is already aligned with the next generation of vehicle-grid communication standards. Currently, the D2 supports three major charging interfaces: NACS (North America), CCS1, and CCS2 (Europe), and is compatible with leading platforms including Tesla and Mustang Mach-E — with one new vehicle model added per quarter via OTA updates.

The companion smartphone app enables customizable discharge thresholds, scheduled auto-shutoff, and full-system diagnostics — letting users precisely manage battery usage boundaries across diverse scenarios: construction site power, camping appliances, or home emergency backup. WETOX also provides global product liability insurance explicitly covering potential voiding of vehicle warranty due to D2 use — further lowering user adoption barriers.

The product is currently live on Kickstarter, having raised over $120,000 as of press time. The campaign runs until August 30, offering early-bird pricing. Notably, while WETOX is an emerging brand, it has specialized in GB/T national standard V2L solutions for over four years — serving users of Tesla, NIO, and other brands. The D2 marks its first globally targeted product designed specifically for Western markets.
