Range Rover Sport Electric SUV Makes Global Debut

The all-electric Land Rover Range Rover Sport SUV made its world premiere. This more compact and affordable electric SUV appeared this weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, marking the official public debut of Range Rover's second battery-electric model.

Earlier, Jaguar Land Rover confirmed during last month's investor day that its first all-electric Range Rover SUV will launch before the end of 2026; the newly revealed Range Rover Sport electric variant is explicitly positioned as the brand's second production-ready electric SUV — slated for both launch and customer deliveries within 2026.

According to Martin Limpert, Global Managing Director of Range Rover, electrification will bring "a new edge in performance" to the Range Rover Sport, and the Goodwood prototype "offers just a first glimpse of how this model will redefine high-performance SUVs."

Powertrain-wise, the vehicle features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivering a combined maximum output of 542 hp and peak torque of 637 lb-ft (~864 N·m). It packs an 118.5 kWh battery pack, with an estimated WLTP range of approximately 380 miles (~612 km) and an EPA-estimated range of roughly 330 miles (~531 km).

Pricing-wise, Autocar reports the UK starting price will be around £100,000 (~¥930,000 RMB), significantly lower than the flagship Range Rover electric SUV's anticipated £150,000 (~¥1.4 million RMB) entry point. Notably, by end-2026, the Range Rover Sport lineup will offer five powertrain options: diesel, inline-six gasoline, mild-hybrid V8, plug-in hybrid, and battery-electric — forming a comprehensive powertrain portfolio.

With BMW's new iX5 electric SUV and Porsche's Cayenne Electric entering the segment, competition among midsize luxury electric SUVs is intensifying rapidly. The arrival of the Range Rover Sport electric SUV could reshape market expectations for performance, luxury, and range in this category.
