Kia PV5 Electric Van Captures 37% Market Share in Europe, Tops Small EV Light Commercial Vehicle Sales

Kia's first all-electric van, the PV5, is reshaping the European light commercial vehicle (LCV) market at an unexpectedly rapid pace. According to the latest data from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), as of July 2026, the PV5 commands a commanding 37% market share in Europe's C-segment small electric van category — topping sales charts and claiming the #1 spot in 12 countries, including the UK and Germany.

Launched officially at the end of 2025, the PV5 quickly became Europe's and the UK's most popular electric light commercial vehicle in early 2026. Kia's official statement declares the PV5 has "rapidly grown into the best-selling e-LCV in both Europe and the UK." Its lineup spans passenger, cargo, and chassis-cab variants — catering to both business fleets and individual users. Notably, the PV5 Cargo variant is the UK's top-selling electric van to date in 2026.

July 2026 marked a pivotal milestone: Kia sold over 1,000 electric vans in the UK that month — including 784 PV5 Cargo and 235 PV5 Passenger units — achieving its first-ever monthly volume exceeding 1,000. By end-July, cumulative UK registrations stood at 3,239 PV5 Cargo and 1,141 PV5 Passenger units, propelling Kia into third place overall in the UK's electric LCV market.

Leveraging its comprehensive electric product portfolio — including the EV2, EV3, EV4, EV5, EV6, EV9, and now the PV5 van — Kia has risen to second place among EV brands in the UK year-to-date (2026). In July alone, it topped the monthly registration chart with 3,731 units registered. Paul Philibert, Managing Director and CEO of Kia UK Quattroporte, stated that with new EV2 variant deliveries ramping up alongside sustained PV5 momentum, "this strong performance is expected to continue through the remainder of 2026."

In terms of product expansion, Kia is accelerating development of the PV5 lineup, introducing new configurations: a 7-seat layout (2-2-3), a high-performance Prime variant, and a high-roof Cargo version. The larger PV7 electric van is slated for launch in 2027, while the PV9 is planned before 2030. Kia has set a target to deliver 232,000 battery-electric commercial vehicles cumulatively by the end of this decade.
