BYD Seal 06 EV Gets Upgrade: 2027 Model Official Images Revealed, Featuring Roof-Mounted LiDAR

Longer Dimensions, Range Boosted to 630 km, Powertrain Upgraded

BYD is accelerating the iteration of its flagship all-electric sedan lineup. Just six months after the launch of the 2026 Seal 06 EV, Zhang Zhou — Head of Ocean Network Sales Division — has officially unveiled the first images of the 2027 Seal 06 EV, signaling a comprehensive upgrade expected next year.

The most prominent change in the 2027 Seal 06 EV is the addition of a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor — potentially making it BYD's first mass-produced model equipped with LiDAR. The current Seal 06 EV features the 'Eyes of the Gods' ADAS system and DiPilot 100 intelligent cockpit, relying primarily on visual cameras for perception; however, whether the new version will offer LiDAR as standard or optional equipment remains unconfirmed.

According to official registration data, the 2027 Seal 06 EV measures 4,870 mm (length) × 1,890 mm (width) × 1,495 mm (height), with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm — 150 mm longer than the current model. In terms of range, the CLTC-rated maximum all-electric range is expected to rise to 630 km, up from 545 km in the current version.

The powertrain is also upgraded: the new model will offer two single-motor variants, delivering peak outputs of 120 kW and 240 kW respectively — up from 110 kW and 160 kW in the current model. However, battery capacity, specific torque figures, and final pricing have yet to be disclosed.

For context, the current 2026 Seal 06 EV starts at RMB 109,800 — roughly half the starting price of the Tesla Model 3 (RMB 235,500). Although the Model 3 achieves a CLTC range of 634 km — nearly matching the new Seal 06 EV — the latter retains a clear price advantage. Full launch timing and detailed specifications are expected to be announced closer to market introduction.
