2026 BMW 3 Series Continues to Lead the Premium Midsize Sedan Segment; M Line Sales Up 8.9% in First Half of the Year

BMW Group recently released its Q2 2026 financial report, highlighting that it is at a pivotal stage of product and technological transformation: on one hand, continuously strengthening the competitiveness of existing core models to consolidate segment leadership; on the other, accelerating development, testing, and production rollout of next-generation vehicles built on the 'New Generation' architecture.

3 Series Maintains Segment Sales Leadership; M Line Shows Strong Growth Momentum

As the brand's core pillar, the BMW 3 Series continues to demonstrate robust market appeal. According to official data, it has ranked No. 1 in China's premium midsize sedan segment for 20 consecutive months. The 2026 model year 3 Series features targeted upgrades tailored to local user needs — enhancing ride comfort, intelligent cockpit experience, and premium interior quality. Meanwhile, the China-exclusive Year of the Horse Special Edition further underscores BMW's deep responsiveness to local culture and consumer preferences.

In the high-performance segment, BMW's M line achieved an 8.9% year-on-year sales increase in China during H1 2026. The company stated this reaffirms the irreplaceable value of driving pleasure among China's high-net-worth users. Track performance was equally impressive: BMW M teams secured second place overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans; at the Spa 6 Hours endurance race, BMW M Hybrid V8 race cars claimed both first and second positions.

iX3 Long-Wheelbase Version Enters Final Pre-Production Phase

The highly anticipated all-new BMW iX3 long-wheelbase version has now entered the final pre-production testing phase. During a real-world range test conducted in Qinghai in May, the vehicle retained 2% battery charge after traveling over 800 km. BMW confirmed the new model will officially launch pre-orders at the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show in August.

Following closely, the all-new BMW i3 long-wheelbase version will also join the 'New Generation' product lineup, further expanding electric options for Chinese customers. Notably, BMW's Shenyang production base recently celebrated its 7-millionth vehicle milestone and has evolved into a globally significant innovation hub integrating R&D, manufacturing, procurement, and supply-chain collaboration.
