Mitsubishi Motors is a Japanese multinational automaker headquartered in Minato, Tokyo. It became independent from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in 1970. By 2009, it ranked fifth among Japanese automakers and 15th globally. Mitsubishi has a long automotive history dating back to the mass production of the Mitsubishi A Model in 1917.
