VolkswagenID.ERA 8X Makes World Debut at Chengdu Auto Show! Launches in October with Extended-Range Range Exceeding 1,500 km

On August 21, the opening day of the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show, the VolkswagenID.ERA 8X made its world debut. Positioned as a mid-to-large-size five-seat SUV, the vehicle is officially dubbed the "German-engineered driving flagship SUV" and is confirmed to launch in October 2026.

The exterior features a full-width Horizon Light Wing LED light strip and L-shaped DRLs; the headlights adopt a "six-core high-energy grille" design, supporting welcome sequential lighting and interactive status lighting effects. Its dimensions are 5020/1997/1750 mm (L/W/H), with a wheelbase of 2970 mm. The interior carries over the ID.ERA 9X's design language, featuring a two-spoke steering wheel, an instrument Magic Screen, Smart Surface door panel displays, and a 15.6-inch 2.5K dual-screen infotainment system. Underpinning it is the Yunxing Digital Chassis, equipped with dual-chamber air suspension and an intelligent predictive Magic Carpet system.

Powertrain-wise, the vehicle adopts a 1.5T extended-range system: the range extender delivers a maximum output of 105 kW, while the electric motor achieves a peak power of 220 kW. Two battery options are offered — 51.1 kWh and 65.2 kWh. WLTC all-electric ranges stand at 260 km / 275 km and 330 km / 345 km respectively; CLTC all-electric ranges exceed 340 km (smaller battery) and 400 km (larger battery), with combined extended-range ranges surpassing 1,400 km and 1,500 km respectively.
