Volvo Trucks Centennial Celebration: Launching the FH16 Electric 100 Year Edition

In 2027, Volvo Trucks marks its 100th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, Volvo officially unveils the VolvoFH16 Electric 100 Year Edition — a limited-run electric heavy-duty truck specially crafted for the centennial celebration. This model is not a concept vehicle but is built on Volvo's already production-ready FH electric platform — and orders are now open.

According to Volvo's official announcement, the special edition features an exclusive dual-tone paint scheme with commemorative striping. The interior receives a comprehensive upgrade: seat bases are upholstered in premium leather, while the upper sections use gray fabric embroidered with "100 Year Edition"; armrests and other fine details are wrapped in tan-brown leather that echoes the exterior striping. Jan Hjelmgren, Volvo's Head of Product Management, stated: "This special edition embodies Volvo's century-long evolution in safety, quality, driver comfort, operational efficiency, and emissions control."

Even finer details reflect meticulous customization: door sills feature welcome lighting; the center console integrates an ambient light strip switchable between red and white; upon opening the door, an LED ground projection automatically displays the "100 Year Edition" logo; 3D-printed speaker grilles, a custom sunshade (printed with a timeline of Volvo's iconic trucks over 100 years), and thick black-and-gray blended carpeting (with a tan-brown leather badge) collectively deliver an immersive commemorative experience.

Jonathan Disley, Volvo's Design Director, emphasized that this version "honors history while looking toward the future," drawing inspiration from Swedish craftsmanship traditions and the professional expertise earned through decades of customer trust. The truck retains Volvo's FH Electric technical architecture: it's powered by advanced eAxles delivering peak output of 540 kW (approx. 730 hp), paired with a 360 kWh battery pack (expandable up to 780 kWh), enabling up to 400 km (≈250 miles) of range under fully loaded operating conditions. Using 350 kW fast charging, the battery can recharge from 20% to 80% in approximately one hour — ideal for efficient energy replenishment during driver shift changes or cargo loading/unloading.

Volvo has not yet disclosed the specific pricing for the 100 Year Edition, but order placement is now officially open.
