Volkswagen ID. Unyx 09 Sports Sedan Spy Shots: 496 hp + CATL Battery

Hardware specifications for the high-performance Volkswagen ID. Unyx 09 sports sedan have been officially disclosed via the 409th batch of new vehicle announcements issued by MIIT. As the second model co-developed under the strategic partnership between Volkswagen and Xpeng, this large-size shooting brake sedan is expected to enter the market in the second half of 2026.

The vehicle adopts a wide-body fastback design, with dimensions of 5081 mm (length), 1980 mm (width), and either 1509 mm or 1526 mm (height, depending on configuration); its wheelbase measures 3030 mm — providing ample space for battery pack packaging. Its positioning clearly targets the premium BEV sedan segment.

Two powertrain options are offered: rear-wheel drive with a single motor, and all-wheel drive with dual motors. The single-motor variant features a rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering a peak output of 230 kW (308 hp) and continuous output of 110 kW. The dual-motor version adds a front axle motor with peak power of 140 kW (188 hp) and continuous output of 50 kW, resulting in a total peak output of 370 kW (496 hp).

For energy storage, the ID. Unyx 09 uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells supplied by CATL, with battery pack integration completed by Volkswagen Anhui Components Co., Ltd. The dual-motor high-performance variant has a curb weight of 2307 kg yet maintains a top speed of 200 km/h.

Exterior features include 21-inch sport alloy wheels and Brembo brake calipers. The single-motor version weighs 2207 kg and offers an optional panoramic glass sunroof. All trims come standard with digital light processing (DLP) high-definition matrix projection headlights and laser-etched LED interactive lighting modules — supporting active safety functions such as lane projection and vehicle-width indication.

This model marks the third offering in the ID. Unyx lineup, following the ID. Unyx 07 crossover (starting at ¥110,204) and the ID. Unyx 08 SUV (starting at ¥226,530), signaling the expansion of Volkswagen and Xpeng's collaboration from mainstream SUVs into the high-performance sedan segment.
