Toyota Prado WALD Edition Launches: Factory-Customized Mecha-Style Design, Priced at ¥499,800

On July 22, FAW TOYOTA officially launched the Toyota Prado WALD Edition — a factory-customized, mecha-inspired variant co-developed with WALD (Ward), the globally renowned luxury vehicle tuning brand. Certified as an official personalized off-road SUV, this edition is based on the Prado All-Rounder TX trim, with a manufacturer-suggested retail price of ¥499,800 and a limited-time refreshed price of ¥449,800.

Unlike common third-party modifications, the Prado WALD Edition is a brand-endorsed joint customization project. It supports standard license plate registration and annual inspection, while fully preserving FAW TOYOTA's original factory warranty — effectively resolving common pain points of modified vehicles, including registration difficulties, excessive wind noise, and inconsistent parts availability.

With over two decades of expertise in premium SUV exterior customization, WALD is renowned for its mecha-inspired design language. This exclusive body kit features an original, modular design: the front fascia integrates vertical DRLs and a matrix-style navigation lamp; the body incorporates multi-segment aerodynamic spoilers that enhance downforce and high-speed stability. The modular architecture enables customizable color-mixing options — and if one module is damaged, only that section needs replacement, reducing long-term maintenance costs and repair turnaround time.

Under the hood, the vehicle retains the Prado All-Rounder TX's 2.4T hybrid powertrain, delivering a combined maximum output of 243 kW and peak torque of 630 N·m. Key mechanical features — including the body-on-frame construction, Torsen LSD center differential with lock capability, SDM disconnectable stabilizer bars across all variants, and full-time four-wheel drive — remain unchanged. When the stabilizer bars are unlocked, suspension travel increases by 20%, significantly improving off-road capability and ride comfort; they automatically relock during highway driving to ensure handling stability.

The Prado lineup now comprises four distinct trims: BX (Entry-Level Adventure), WX (Rugged Off-Road), VX (Flagship Comfort), and the new WALD Edition (Personalized Customization) — covering diverse user needs from light trail exploration to long-distance overlanding. Concurrently, the nationwide 'Ai-Prado Alliance' owner community has launched in Beijing and Chengdu, offering driver training, off-road instruction, UGC incentives, and exclusive brand event access.
