SAIC Motor Group August Sales Reach 357,000 Units, Leading Dual Growth in Overseas & New Energy Markets

Self-owned brands account for 72.9% of total sales; IM, MG, and Aishang show standout growth

On September 1, SAIC Motor Group released its production and sales report for August 2026. The Group sold 357,000 vehicles in August; cumulative sales from January to August reached 2.741 million units, with significant year-on-year growth. Self-owned brands delivered particularly strong performance — selling 273,000 units in August, up 18% year-on-year, marking eight consecutive months of positive YoY growth; cumulative sales from January to August totaled 1.999 million units, up 14.2% YoY, representing a record-high 72.9% share of the Group's total volume.

By business segment, SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicles sold 104,000 units in August, surging 39.6% YoY; cumulative sales from January to August reached 760,000 units, up 51.3% YoY. Its new energy models drove robust growth: NEV sales totaled 353,000 units from January to August, skyrocketing 214.5% YoY. New model momentum was evident — the Jiayue 07 entered a 'blind reservation' phase and secured over 11,000 orders within seven days; the MG4 family delivered more than 17,000 units in a single month; and the MG 07 surpassed 31,000 confirmed orders.

SAIC Motor MAXUS sold 23,000 units in August, up 48.3% YoY; cumulative sales from January to August reached 183,000 units, up 31.3% YoY. Its NEVs sold 64,000 units from January to August, up 76.8% YoY. SAIC Motor General Motors Wuling sold 127,000 units in August, up 1.5% YoY; cumulative sales from January to August totaled 917,000 units, reflecting stable core market fundamentals; NEV sales reached 504,000 units cumulatively, while the Huajing S delivered over 7,300 units in August — its fourth consecutive month of sequential growth.

IM Automobile sustained high growth, selling 52,000 units from January to August, up 64% YoY. At the end of August, the all-new IM L6 officially launched, featuring the NEO tri-powertrain architecture, full-drive-by-wire chassis, and IM Claw Lobster Intelligent Agent — the 'three generational-leap technologies' — further strengthening its technological identity.

The joint venture segment also showed structural recovery: SAIC Motor GM NEV sales reached 76,000 units from January to August, up 64% YoY; AUDI-SAIC NEV sales totaled 43,000 units, up 8% YoY. The ID. ERA 9X entered the top tier of extended-range large SUVs by sales volume; the Audi E7X became the first premium BEV to surpass 10,000 units in sales within 100 days of launch.

The overseas market emerged as the biggest highlight: SAIC Motor exported 139,000 units in August, up 57.7% YoY; cumulative exports from January to August hit 1.016 million units, soaring 52.9% YoY. The MG brand performed exceptionally well in Europe — selling 241,000 units from January to August, up 22.3% YoY. In France, it ranked among the Top 10 brands in July; in Ireland, it placed fourth in the pure-electric segment; and in Italy, its user base exceeded 150,000 — making it MG's second European '150,000+' market after the UK.
