Genesis GV90 Real-World Color Review: The Visual Story Behind 16 CMF Finishes

At its San Francisco debut, we experienced the color philosophy of this all-electric flagship SUV firsthand

As Genesis' most significant electric flagship to date, the GV90 has redefined luxury expectations since its unveiling — with features like B-pillarless suicide doors, rotating front seats, and a retractable 24.6-inch central touchscreen. Yet what truly commands prolonged attention may be its unprecedented lineup of 16 exclusive exterior finishes — not merely a color chart, but a visual narrative co-authored by hue, material, and craftsmanship.

Design: 16 Colors, 16 Stories

Two weeks ago, Genesis unveiled the GV90 to global media in San Francisco. We observed up close its CMF (Color, Material, Finish) development logic: each shade is not isolated, but imbued with a tangible concept. Take Seychelles Beige, for instance — designed to evoke the fleeting interplay of light on white sand meeting ocean waves at Sunny; or Baena Green, our personal favorite, which seeks to capture the hushed stillness as sunlight filters through an olive grove. If you fell for the GV80's Cardiff Green, Baena Green delivers a deeper, more layered sensory evolution.

The remaining 13 gloss finishes include: Sonoran Navy, Taupo Gray, Jaipur Rose, Vela Burgundy, Como Blue, Uyuni White, Saville Silver, Makalu Gray, Vik Black, Capri Blue, and the classic Cardiff Green carried forward.

Three matte options further expand individual expression: Monashee Silver, Matterhorn White, and Makalu Gray Matte. Notably, all colors are available across both the standard GV90 (with conventional doors) and the GV90 Neolun (featuring B-pillarless suicide doors).

Powertrain & Positioning: Pure-Electric Flagship, Specs Undisclosed

While this static experience centered on design language and CMF strategy, Genesis explicitly positions the GV90 as a 'full-size all-electric SUV'. Core powertrain details — including platform architecture, battery capacity, range, and drivetrain configuration — remain undisclosed. Officially, Genesis confirms only that the GV90 will feature its latest generation of electrification technology and target the global premium market.

Intelligence & Cabin: 24.6-Inch Retractable Screen as the Visual Hub

Inside, the OLED central display — retractable from the dashboard and extending to 24.6 inches — is already GV90's most distinctive interface element. Paired with rotating front seats, this design strengthens human-machine collaboration while blurring the physical boundary between driving and relaxation. As for underlying infotainment architecture, voice responsiveness, and ADAS capability tiers, Genesis has not yet granted deep-access evaluation rights.

Pricing & Special Edition: Neolun First Edition Limited to 222 Units

No pricing information has been released for the GV90, nor has pre-ordering opened. However, Genesis has confirmed a limited-run GV90 Neolun First Edition, with just 222 units globally. This edition features three exclusive two-tone body combinations: Jaipur Rose / Seychelles Beige with Quince Brown interior; Vik Black / Baena Green with Veiled Indigo / Puglia Green interior; and Vik Black / Sonoran Navy with Majestic Purple / Regal Navy interior — extending the color narrative seamlessly from exterior to cabin for a complete storytelling loop.

Conclusion: Redefining the Essence of Luxury

The GV90's 16-color palette is no marketing gimmick. When Seychelles Beige glints with warm golden particles under midday Sunny, or Baena Green reveals its cool-gray undertones beneath dappled shade, what you sense is restrained abundance: luxury defined not by spec-sheet stacking, but by material breathability, light dynamics, and story depth — resetting the perceptual coordinates of electric-era premium vehicles. The GV90 isn't on sale yet — but its color philosophy has already begun speaking.
