On July 22, 2026, Wen Fei, Global CEO of Freelander — the new joint venture brand co-developed by Chery and Jaguar Land Rover — unveiled via social media the detailed second-row cabin configuration of its debut model, the Freelander 8. Positioned as a luxury-tech all-terrain SUV, the vehicle is expected to make its official global debut shortly.

According to the disclosure, the Freelander 8's second row features dual zero-gravity seats with integrated heating, ventilation, massage, and power-adjustable leg rests; the cabin also includes a retractable fold-out table and a built-in refrigerator. Previously announced specs indicate the vehicle will feature an overhead entertainment screen, while the third row offers cup holders and adjustable seatback angles.
Interior design introduces a fresh language centered around a 46.3-inch rear-mounted display and a 15.6-inch LED central infotainment screen. Physical controls adopt the signature 'Paris hobnail' texture — inspired by premium luxury timepieces — while the center console houses optical-grade dual-floating crystal knobs precisely carved from K9 optical glass with 144 facets, paired with a 256-color dual-aperture floating ambient lighting system.
Exterior styling retains Freelander's iconic boxy silhouette, drawing direct inspiration from the Cconcept 97 concept car. The front end features a closed-off grille and rectangular LED headlights; side profile lines are sharp and assertive, complemented by bespoke alloy wheels and a roof-mounted luggage rack. Three launch paint colors — 'Twilight Purple', 'Zesty Lemon Yellow', and 'Flowing Silver Gray' — were custom-developed under the direction of Global Design Director Phil Simmons.
In terms of intelligence and performance, the Freelander 8 is positioned as a luxury-tech all-terrain SUV. It comes standard with four Huawei LiDAR units and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 flagship chip, and is equipped across all trims with Huawei's latest Qiankun ADS 5.0 intelligent driving system. Built on an 800V high-voltage architecture optimized for extended range, the vehicle also integrates the i-ATS intelligent all-terrain system co-developed by Chery and Huawei.
