Firefly Halo Series Launches: BaaS Battery Rental from ¥93,300

On July 20, Firefly officially launched its new compact all-electric vehicle — the Halo Series. The series offers only one trim: the full-vehicle purchase price is ¥133,300, while the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) rental option reduces the upfront vehicle cost to ¥93,300.

According to official information, the Halo Series draws design inspiration from deep forests — specifically, the subtle blue-green glow of firefly — establishing a soft, stable visual tone. Building upon the brand's original design language, the vehicle expresses an annualized aesthetic through color, material, and craftsmanship. Each year, the design team distills a signature 'Light of the Year' from user insights, urban life, nature, and societal evolution — and translates it into tangible design elements.

The exterior continues the biomimetic theme: the front fascia features the 'Triple Concerto' headlight — a trio of concentric circular rings — delivering strong visual identity. The front trunk offers 92 L of capacity, with tiered storage and drainage functionality. The body adopts a Quiet Green paint finish, with blacked-out A/B-pillars and a seamless C-pillar-to-roof integration. At the rear, a mirrored 'Triple Concerto' light signature pairs with an integrated spoiler; the wheels feature an all-new design in 215/50 R18 dimension.

The vehicle measures 4,003 mm in length, 1,781 mm in width, and 1,557 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,615 mm. The cabin retains the current-generation styling while enhancing rounded elements and youth-oriented details: it features a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a 13.2-inch floating central touchscreen, and a 6-inch fully digital instrument cluster. A driver–front passenger open-through floor design improves entry/exit convenience. The car offers 27 storage locations — including an integrated cupholder and armrest on the co-driver console, a drawer-style storage box, magnetic anchor points in both front and rear for expandable organization, and a hidden 29+ liter under-seat compartment beneath the right rear seat. Fluorescent yellow accents appear throughout, adding liveliness and dynamism.

The powertrain consists of a rear-mounted single motor delivering peak output of 163 hp (~120 kW) and peak torque of 205 N·m. All variants use a 42.1 kWh battery pack, enabling a CLTC all-electric range of 420 km. Suspension comprises MacPherson-type independent front suspension and a five-link independent rear setup.

In intelligent driving, the vehicle comes standard with 15 active safety features, 11 driver assistance functions, and 7 parking assistance capabilities. It integrates a highway-and-city fast-driving assistance system — claiming 99.99% coverage on highways — with autonomous ramp entry/exit, lane-changing with turn signal activation, and self-initiated overtaking. It also delivers full-scenario smart parking and urban hands-free parking, achieving 'park anywhere visible.'

In terms of competition, the Firefly Halo Series primarily targets premium compact EVs like All-electric MINI Cooper. Although the latter starts at ¥165,800 and attracts some buyers via its overseas brand appeal, the Firefly holds advantages in body dimensions, cabin space, and trunk practicality.

Notably, as a model built on the NIO battery-swap architecture, the Halo Series seamlessly integrates into the existing swap network — effectively alleviating pain points such as home-charging inconvenience and holiday charging queues in urban environments. Editorial analysis highlights balanced performance across four key dimensions: occupant safety, intelligent technology, spatial practicality, and ride comfort — making it especially appealing to female users and urban solo commuters. Market feedback confirms its competitiveness: June 2026 deliveries reached 6,946 units, up 76.7% year-on-year; first-half 2026 cumulative deliveries totaled 29,172 units — an explosive 271.9% YoY increase; and total deliveries since launch have surpassed 68,586 units.
