The latest production vehicles and battery technologies are compressing the 10%–70% state-of-charge (SOC) replenishment time to under 4 minutes and 22 seconds — not lab data, but real-world, road-ready, deliverable performance.

Production Reality: The Second-Level Leap from Spec Sheets to Roads

Lynk & Co's newly launched 10-Series EV — under GEELY — has become the first mass-produced vehicle equipped with the "Golden Brick" battery, officially claiming a 10%–70% charge in just 4 minutes and 22 seconds. Close behind, multiple current-production models from BYD now feature the Blade 2.0 battery, achieving the same SOC range in under 5 minutes. Neither is a concept showcase — they're market-available configurations users can order today.

CATL, while not yet deployed on production vehicles, has unveiled a consumer-grade lightweight power battery that passed real-vehicle ultra-fast charging tests, reaching 10%–80% in just 3 minutes and 44 seconds; FAW Group has also announced a new battery capable of 10%–70% charging in 3 minutes and 41 seconds. Notably, all these figures are explicitly reported to the nearest second — marking a substantive shift in industry benchmarking standards.

Supporting Infrastructure: 1500 kW Ultra-Fast Charging Networks Rapidly Roll Out

Realizing ultra-fast charging requires robust infrastructure. BYD launched its 1500 kW liquid-cooled ultra-fast charger earlier this year and plans to deploy 20,000 units by year-end — thousands are already operational. GEELY and Dongfeng Group have likewise announced proprietary 1500 kW chargers and begun large-scale deployment.

In contrast, overseas progress lags significantly: mainstream U.S. ultra-fast chargers remain at 350 kW; even the newest Mercedes-AMG GT EV — relying on a 600 kW charger — takes roughly 11 minutes (10%–80%), failing to break the "minute threshold." Europe has seen gradual rollout of 400–600 kW chargers, but BYD's first batch of flash-charging stations has only landed in Europe so far, with no U.S. deployment plan announced.

Although home slow charging remains the daily norm for most owners, second-level fast charging delivers tangible value for users without home charging access, high-utilization commercial fleets, and urban public charging scenarios — higher power directly increases the number of vehicles served per charger per day, easing land-use pressure.
