BYD has officially entered the UK's mid-to-large-size SUV market. Its all-new 7-seat plug-in hybrid SUV — the Ti 7 — has recently opened for pre-orders in the UK, marking BYD's first three-row vehicle launched in this market. With its bold boxy styling, class-leading equipment, and aggressive pricing strategy, the Ti 7 directly challenges the Land Rover Defender 110 PHEV — drawing significant industry attention.

DM-p Performance Hybrid Debuts in the UK
The Ti 7 is BYD's first model equipped with the DM-p (Dual Mode performance) plug-in hybrid system — and the first application of this technology in the UK market. According to official information, the system is built on the Super Hybrid DM architecture and integrates a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with three electric motors, delivering a combined maximum output of 402 hp (408 PS), with 0–100 km/h acceleration completed in just 4.8 seconds.
The powertrain pairs with a 35.6 kWh BYD Blade Battery, offering up to 74 miles (≈119 km) of all-electric range under WLTP conditions — extending to 102 miles (≈164 km) in urban driving. By comparison, the rival Land Rover Defender 110 PHEV delivers only 31.1 miles (≈50 km) of WLTP all-electric range.
Premium Features Meet Practical Space
In the UK, the Ti 7 is offered exclusively in the top-tier Excellence AWD trim. Interior highlights include acoustic laminated glass for the windshield and front side windows, plus leather-appointed seats across all trims. Heated and ventilated functions are standard on both front and outer second-row seats. A built-in vehicle refrigerator and beverage heater are integrated into the center console — enhancing convenience for family travel.
Technology features include a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, and an immersive 18-speaker audio system. The second-row seats offer four-way adjustment, while the third row folds completely flat. With both the second and third rows folded down, cargo capacity expands to 1,830 liters.
Strong Price Advantage; Deliveries Expected from January 2027
The Ti 7 starts at £47,995 (approx. RMB 438,000) in the UK — significantly undercutting the Land Rover Defender 110 PHEV's starting price of £71,840 by over £23,800. Customers can now reserve the vehicle with a £500 deposit, matched by an equivalent BYD subsidy. Official details will be released soon, with first customer deliveries scheduled to begin in January 2027.
