BYD is officially entering the UK medium and large SUV market. The new seven-seat SUV with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, the Ti 7, recently opened for pre-order in the UK and is BYD's first three-row model to be introduced in the market. Its striking boxy design, class-leading equipment, and aggressive pricing make it a direct competitor to the Land Rover Defender 110 PHEV, and it has received widespread industry attention.

High performance DM-p system is a UK first
The Ti 7 is the first BYD model equipped with the DM-p (Dual Mode performance) hybrid system, and the first application of this technology in the UK market. According to official information, the system is built on the Super Hybrid DM architecture and includes a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and three electric motors; the combined maximum output is 402 hp (408 PS), and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 4.8 seconds.
The powertrain is paired with a 35.6 kWh BYD Blade Battery; according to the WLTP cycle, the maximum electric range is 74 miles (approximately 119 km), increasing to 102 miles (approximately 164 km) in urban driving conditions. By comparison, the Land Rover Defender 110 PHEV, a similarly equipped competitor, has a WLTP electric range of only 31.1 miles (approximately 50 km).
Flagship equipment and practical space
In the UK market, the Ti 7 is offered exclusively in the top-of-the-line Excellence AWD trim. The interior comes standard with noise-insulating glass for the windshield and front side windows, leather seats, and heated and ventilated front and second-row outer seats. A cooler and drinks warmer are located in the center console for added convenience during family road trips.
In terms of technology, the car is equipped with a 15.6-inch central display, a fully digital 10.25-inch instrument cluster, and an immersive audio system with 18 speakers. The second-row seats are four-way adjustable, and the third row folds flat. With both the second and third rows folded, the luggage compartment volume reaches 1,830 liters.
Significant price advantage, deliveries will begin in January 2027
The Ti 7 starts at £47,995 (approximately 438,000 yuan) in the UK. This is more than £23,800 lower than the Land Rover Defender 110 PHEV's starting price of £71,840. Customers can reserve the vehicle with a £500 deposit; BYD will provide an equivalent subsidy. Officials said further details will be announced soon, with first customer deliveries scheduled for January 2027.
