BYD has officially entered the UK mid-to-large SUV market. Its new 7-seat plug-in hybrid SUV, the Ti 7, recently opened for pre-orders in the UK, becoming BYD's first three-row model in this market. With its distinctive boxy design, superior features, and aggressive pricing strategy, the new vehicle directly targets the Land Rover Defender 110 PHEV , attracting significant industry attention.

DM-p Performance Hybrid Makes its UK Debut

The Ti 7 is BYD's first model equipped with the DM-p (Dual Mode performance) plug-in hybrid system, and also the first time this technology has been applied to the UK market. According to official information, the system is based on the Super Hybrid DM architecture, integrating a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and three electric motors, with a combined maximum power of 402 horsepower (408 PS) and an acceleration time of only 4.8 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h.

The powertrain is equipped with a 35.6 kWh BYD Blade Battery , offering a maximum WLTP pure electric range of 74 miles (approximately 119 kilometers); in urban driving conditions, the pure electric range extends to 102 miles (approximately 164 kilometers). In comparison, the Land Rover Defender 110 PHEV, a competitor in the same class, has a WLTP pure electric range of only 31.1 miles (approximately 50 kilometers).

Balancing flagship features with practical space

In the UK market, the Ti 7 is only available as the top-of-the-line Excellence AWD model. Inside, all models come standard with acoustic glass for the windshield and front side windows, leather seats, and heated and ventilated front and second-row outer seats. The center console also integrates a refrigerator and beverage heater, enhancing convenience for family travel.

In terms of technology, the new vehicle features a 15.6-inch central control screen, a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel, and an 18-speaker immersive sound system. The second-row seats support four-way adjustment, and the third row can be folded down completely; when both the second and third rows are folded down, the trunk capacity reaches 1830 liters.

With a significant price advantage, deliveries are expected to begin in January 2027.

The Ti 7 starts at £47,995 in the UK (approximately RMB 438,000), a significant price reduction of over £23,800 compared to the Land Rover Defender 110 PHEV's starting price of £71,840. Consumers can currently pre-order by paying a £500 deposit, with BYD providing an equivalent subsidy. The company stated that more details will be released soon, with the first deliveries expected to begin in January 2027.
