AUDI-SAIC ID.ERA 5X Spy Shots Leaked: Brand's First All-Electric SUV

Recently, spy shots of the AUDI-SAIC ID.ERA 5X surfaced online. As the first all-electric model in the ID.ERA family, the vehicle was previously teased via official preview images. It remains in testing and has yet to disclose production specifications or launch timing — it is expected to debut in 2026.

The spy photos reveal that the ID.ERA 5X carries forward the ID.ERA family design language: its front fascia features a full-width DRL strip, with the Volkswagen brand logo centered and split headlights positioned on either side below; the side profile adopts a subtle fastback silhouette for enhanced sportiness; and the rear includes a spoiler plus a minimalist full-width taillight — delivering a compact, sharp visual impression.

Notably, the new model will debut with an all-new LiDAR sensor and the Yunxing intelligent driving assistance system — a configuration not yet seen on any existing ID.ERA models. Currently, the ID.ERA 9X uses an extended-range powertrain; the ID.ERA 8X has been filed for approval in MIIT and is also an extended-range mid-to-large SUV; while the ID.ERA 5S is a plug-in hybrid mid-size sedan slated for launch in Q3 2026.

Regarding powertrain, AUDI-SAIC has not released specific technical details for the ID.ERA 5X, only confirming it as the ID.ERA family's inaugural all-electric model. This marks the first shift away from extended-range and plug-in hybrid architectures toward a dedicated BEV platform. However, key specs — including battery capacity, motor output, and CLTC all-electric range — remain undisclosed, and all related configurations await official confirmation.

As a pivotal step in the ID.ERA series' transition to battery electric mobility, the ID.ERA 5X may signal a phased upgrade in AUDI-SAIC's new-energy strategy. That said, all current exterior and technical details are based on prototype vehicles, and final production versions may differ.
