The official images of the McLaren 788HS were unveiled on July 9. Positioned as the ultimate pinnacle of the McLaren supercar lineup, 'HS' stands for 'High Sport' — marking the third model in the series to bear this designation, following the MP4-12C HS and MSO HS.

Only 200 units will be built globally — 100 coupes and 100 spiders — each individually handcrafted by the McLaren Special Operations (MSO) division. The exterior features an all-new aerodynamic design: the front hood incorporates an S-Duct air intake; the front bumper integrates large air vents and a bespoke front splitter; wheel arch vents enhance brake cooling and lateral airflow, complemented by exclusive side skirts; the rear features an active rear wing and a large rear diffuser, generating 10% more downforce than the 765LT. Extensive use of carbon fiber keeps the dry weight at just 1,265 kg, delivering a power-to-weight ratio of 623 hp per tonne. Standard equipment includes forged alloy wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes, and six-piston calipers.
The powertrain centers on a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 788 hp and 800 N·m of peak torque. It accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 7 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 330 km/h. The chassis features adaptive dampers and the latest Active Chassis Control III system.
