Hyundai Motor officially launched the new top-tier IONIQ 9 Calligraphy Black Ink in the UK and European markets. Positioned above the current Calligraphy trim, this variant is now the highest-spec production version in the IONIQ 9 lineup.

The IONIQ 9 Calligraphy Black Ink debuted in April 2026 at Hyundai Motor Group's Metaplant facility in Savannah, USA, and this marks its official launch for European and UK customers. Built on the same three-row battery-electric SUV platform as the standard IONIQ 9, the Black Ink edition reinforces its flagship status through bespoke design elements.
Exterior styling features full black treatment: a matte-black Hyundai emblem centered in the front grille, exclusive 21-inch alloy wheels, and high-gloss black rear bumper trim. Exterior paint options include Abyss Black Pearl and Serenity White Pearl (available in both UK and European markets), while only Abyss Black Pearl is offered in the US market.
The interior embraces the 'Ink Aesthetic' Everus, featuring black Nappa leather seats, a black leather-wrapped steering wheel, and black aluminum center console trim. The overall design philosophy draws inspiration from traditional East Asian calligraphy — Hyundai states that both the name and aesthetic concept stem directly from this art form.
Powertrain specifications remain identical to the existing Calligraphy model: dual-motor all-wheel drive paired with a 110 kWh battery pack, delivering a combined maximum output of 422 hp and up to 600 km (372 miles) of WLTP-rated range.
The vehicle is available in both six- and seven-seat configurations. Starting price in the UK is £79,320 (approx. USD 107,000); German-market pricing begins at €89,950 (approx. USD 104,000). Official US pricing has not yet been announced, though industry estimates suggest the 2027 IONIQ 9 Performance Calligraphy Black Ink may retail around USD 85,000 — higher than the current top-tier Calligraphy Design trim priced at USD 76,490.
