Hongqi H7 Transformation: From Government Fleet Sedan to Business-and-Family C-Class Luxury Car

Powered by the Honghu Hybrid Platform — 0–100 km/h in 3.9 Seconds; Brand Portfolio Restructuring Underway

The all-new Hongqi H7 begins pre-sales in August 2026, with an opening price starting at RMB 181,800. This is no routine model update — it's a systemic redefinition spanning product positioning, target users, and brand architecture. Hong Qi is deliberately shedding its 'bureaucratic' image, repositioning the H7 as a C-class luxury sedan equally suited for executive hospitality and family travel.

Historically, the H7 served extensively as government fleet vehicles — emphasizing solemnity and dignified presence. The new-generation H7 takes a deliberate detour: higher-tier administrative duties are now assigned to the H9, while the H7 focuses squarely on the mainstream C-class luxury market. Hua Yaofeng, CEO of the Hong Qi product line, stated plainly: "When developing the new H7, we chose not to continue the previous solemn, bureaucratic styling. Instead, we aim to evolve it from a 'national vehicle' strictly for official use into a product that serves both business and family needs."

This shift reflects Hong Qi's broader sub-brand stratification strategy: Jinkuifahua targets ultra-luxury (in principle excluding models under RMB 1 million), Tiangong focuses on tech-savvy, youth-oriented innovation (competing with Xiaomi SU7, Z7, etc.), and the core Hong Qi brand targets middle-aged consumers who 'aspire to stay young' — retaining luxury DNA while expressing light-luxury through a design language described as 'handsome, Youya, grand, and sporty.'

The all-new H7 is built on the Honghu Intelligent Hybrid Platform, measuring 5060 × 1910 × 1480 mm with a 2970-mm wheelbase. Its AWD variant accelerates from 0–100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. For the intelligent cockpit, it features the Lingxi Cockpit 5.0 — decomposing the entire vehicle into 1,000 atomic capabilities, with approximately 200 made publicly accessible across 13 functional domains. Notably, Hong Qi deliberately withheld high-risk permissions — including headlight Infiniti control, voice-activated braking, sharp-angle steering commands, and unauthorized door unlocking — making safety boundaries a core differentiator.

Facing fierce competition in the plug-in hybrid segment, the Honghu system prioritizes real-world usability: cold-start capability down to −30°C and full-power output down to −20°C; seamless engine integration designed to make drivers 'forget the engine exists'; and a firm refusal to inflate purchase costs for marginal parameter gains. Hua Yaofeng emphasized: "Hong Qi won't blindly over-spec components, nor will it engage in meaningless spec wars — we remain faithful to our brand positioning and aligned with our customers' genuine needs."
