The all-new Ford Fathom battery-electric midsize pickup will enter production in Q1 2027 at the Louisville Assembly Plant (LAP) and is scheduled to launch for sale early in 2027, with a starting price of $28,350.

Fathom is Ford's first production vehicle built on the Universal EV (UEV) platform. Beyond enabling full electrification, this platform has given rise to a disruptive manufacturing system — the UEV Production System. According to Ford, the system divides the vehicle into three major modules: front-end assembly, rear-end assembly, and battery floor — fundamentally redefining traditional assembly-line logic.
In terms of manufacturing, Fathom extensively uses large aluminum alloy integrated die-cast components to replace dozens of stamped and welded parts. For example, while the current internal-combustion Maverick requires 146 parts to assemble its front structure, Fathom achieves the same with just two die-cast pieces — significantly simplifying architecture and enhancing rigidity. Interior components mount directly onto the battery housing, which itself is then inserted and secured from beneath the chassis, enabling true modular integration.
Ford states that the UEV Production System boosts Fathom's overall assembly efficiency by 40% while markedly improving ergonomics: operator 'step-over-fender' motions decrease by 84%, wiring harness length shrinks by over 4,000 feet, weight drops by 22 lbs, and installation complexity is greatly reduced. Additionally, the plant deploys software module flash stations for the first time — leveraging 5G connectivity to perform OTA update diagnostics in real time before vehicles roll off the line, cutting per-unit update time from ~10 minutes to fully synchronized inline completion.
As Ford's first model with native Apple Maps navigation integration, Fathom comes standard with a high-resolution display, digital key, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and bidirectional charging capability. Ford also confirms that cabin passenger space will exceed that of the TOYOTA RAV4.
