The US heavy-duty electric truck market is accelerating its expansion into vital logistics corridors. Chinese startup Windrose recently announced that its all-electric R700 Series 8 truck could begin operating on Texas's I-35 freight corridor, which connects Dallas and Laredo, starting in the fourth quarter of 2026, with plans to deploy its first 10 units—aimed at serving cross-border freight routes to Mexico .

This deployment is being carried out in collaboration between logistics giant DSV, supply chain company Allogic, and freight infrastructure provider Greenspace E-Mobility, via the latter's "electric highway" network. This network spans I-35 in Texas and Route 85 in Mexico, and aims to connect Monterey, San Antonio, La Riodo, and Dallas, forming the first fully electric cross-border freight corridor in North America.

However, the project still faces two real constraints: First, the Green Hub charging stations being built by Greenspace are not yet complete. According to reports, the first phase of the project, comprising four stations with a high charging capacity of 400–1,000 kilowatts, is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2026 on the Texas side; achieving stable operational capacity across the entire line will require subsequent phases. Each Green Hub will also be equipped with locally generated solar power systems and energy storage units to reduce strain on the electrical grid—a feature that directly addresses reliability challenges, given that I-35 is the busiest freight lane in North America.

Secondly, the official press release did not clarify whether DSV, Allologic, or Greenspace had placed any formal orders for the vehicles. It is worth noting that Greenspace also serves as the authorized distributor of Windrose electric trucks in Panama, Mexico, and Texas, creating overlapping roles and complicating the determination of responsibilities. Therefore, it remains unclear whether these ten R700 units were actually ordered, part of an expanded pilot program, or simply a non-binding commitment.

In addition, unconfirmed reports indicate that Allologic has already received its first prototype of the Windrose R700 truck in April 2026, giving the project some initial experimental support. If the project is successful, this annual batch of trucks is expected to reduce carbon emissions by more than 1,500 tons. However, as of press time, Windrose has not released any further details regarding the order status, delivery schedule, or precise technical specifications of the R700 model (such as operating range , battery capacity, or engine power).
