Jaguar officially enters the ultra-luxury BEV market; Type 01 to launch in first half of 2027

Annual production capped at just 10,000 units; U.S. is largest single market, competing directly with Aston Martin and Bentley

Jaguar is embarking on its most ambitious brand transformation in its 91-year history — fully pivoting to the ultra-luxury battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment. Multiple sources confirm that Jaguar will launch three high-performance all-electric models, with starting prices around USD 150,000 (approximately RMB 1.08 million), strictly targeting low-volume, highly exclusive markets.

This strategic shift is widely viewed by industry observers as Jaguar's most significant transformation to date. The new models abandon Jaguar's previous mainstream luxury positioning and instead target the ultra-luxury niche currently occupied by Aston Martin, Bentley, and select high-end variants from Mercedes-AMG and Maybach. However, whether Jaguar possesses sufficient brand prestige and consumer recognition to credibly anchor this new positioning remains uncertain.

The product rollout timeline is now taking shape: Jaguar's first all-new-generation BEV — the Type 01 — will officially debut its production-ready version in October 2026. Sales are scheduled to commence in the first half of 2027, marking the tangible beginning of Jaguar's electrified era.

In terms of production capacity, Jaguar's parent company JaguarLand Rover expects initial annual output to be capped at approximately 10,000 units. The U.S. market has been designated as the primary target for the Type 01, with JLR forecasting annual sales there of 2,500–3,000 units.

Notably, this transformation imposes unprecedented demands on product excellence and customer experience — requiring quantum leaps in design aesthetics, performance metrics, manufacturing quality, and dealer-level service standards, far exceeding Jaguar's current perception among consumers.
