CheryJaguarLand Rover Freelander 8 EREV SUV to Debut in China on September 3

The all-new Freelander 8 EREV crossover SUV, co-developed by CheryJaguarLand Rover, will officially launch in the Chinese market on September 3, 2026 — marking the first step in its global rollout.

According to official information, the Freelander 8 is positioned as a flagship full-size SUV, featuring a dual-motor AWD layout with a system output of up to 610 kW (818 hp) and peak torque of 813 N·m, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 4.6 seconds. It pairs a 1.5-liter range extender with a 60.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, delivering a CLTC all-electric range of 310 km.

Its dimensions measure 5118 × 2050 × 1898 mm, with a wheelbase of 3040 mm — 736 mm longer than the original Land Rover Freelander. Standard equipment includes 21- or 22-inch wheels fitted with Pirelli P Zero Elect tires; ground clearance stands at 220 mm, maximum towing capacity is 2000 kg, and it features dual-chamber air suspension plus rear-wheel steering — achieving a minimum turning radius of just 5.15 meters.

The cabin offers both 5- and 6-seat configurations. The front row features a 46.3-inch AR-HUD digital instrument display, while the center console houses a 15.6-inch touchscreen supporting Apple CarPlay and Huawei HiCar connectivity. Second-row seats include 16-point massage functionality and a 17.3-inch overhead entertainment screen; additional amenities include a 10-liter vehicle-mounted refrigerator and a foldable desk.

The Freelander 8 has already entered pre-sales in China, with an expected price range of RMB 339,900–459,900. Separately, the vehicle has recently undergone road testing in the UAE — likely in preparation for overseas launches. As the latest product under the Chery Jaguar Land Rover joint venture framework, the Freelander 8 is widely seen as a spiritual successor to the iconic Freelander series discontinued in 2014.
