In 2009, Weichai Power acquired a stake in Jialing Chuanjiang Auto Co., Ltd., and fully acquired it in 2012, renaming it Weichai (Chongqing) Automobile Co., Ltd. In 2013, it launched the Weichai Enranger brand. In 2019, the VGV brand replaced Enranger as Weichai Group’s core passenger vehicle brand. On December 31, 2020, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Jinan Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. acquired a stake in the company, which was then renamed Sinotruk (Chongqing) Light Vehicle Co., Ltd. VGV also began NEV production in partnership with Xinte Auto in 2021.
