Kia Corporation, founded in 1944 as 'Kyungsung Precision Industry,' is a South Korean multinational automaker. It adopted the name 'Kia' in 1952, meaning 'Rising from Asia.' In 2000, Kia merged with Hyundai to form the Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group. Ranked 229th on the 2020 Fortune Global 500, Kia sold around 2.84 million vehicles in 2019, with the U.S. as its largest market (22% of global sales) and China accounting for approximately 10%.
